Rita is a freelance director, editor & programmer working across documentary, short-form non-fiction & the arts. She is the co-founder of OffBeat, a folk film club celebrating British working and folk culture. The first OffBeat Folk Film Festival will take place from the 12th - 18th May 2025.
Rita is particularly interested in topics around women’s health and sexuality. Her most recent documentary, High, Soft & Open, highlights the lesser-discussed side effects of hormonal birth control and its impact on mental health. Rita’s previous film, The UTI Documentary, looked at the ways women have been failed by medical professionals when it comes to UTIs. The film won best short documentary at Shortie Film Festival in New York in 2022.
